Technology innovation moves very quickly. Ten years ago we never could have imagined that smartphones would take over our lives. But now they are used by people from all walks of life. So what will everyone be using in the next 10 years? Well from the way it looks right now, it seems like virtual reality may be the next biggest technological innovation. There is a lot of commotion going on about virtual reality headsets like Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR. These devices allow people to see themselves in a 3d virtual world where they can move as if they are really in it. Most of the programs you can use with virtual reality are games, but there are software developers creating actual applications for these headsets as well. Imagine being able to edit a photograph or video in a virtual reality setting. Just the thought of that may seem surreal to you. However, this will likely become a true reality in the next 10 years.
Smart technology is really going to be the main focus in the coming decades. We’ve already seen smart technology come into cars and houses, but how about clothing? There are currently engineers out there right now who are creating smart jackets that have the ability to produce heat when sunlight hits it. You won’t have to wear heavy clothing either. These solar-powered jackets will be able to absorb the power of the sun and turn it into heat for the person who wears it. So if you live in a colder area of the world then this solar-powered jacket can raise the temperature of your body up to 20°F. You may even see this smart clothing trend move on to other areas like smart shirts, smart shoes, and smart pants.
And finally, automated driverless cars may be here quicker than you think. They are currently in the testing phase but still have some more bugs to work out. However, in the next 10 years, it is safe to assume that these cars will have been perfected for consumer use. Imagine the possibilities of these cars. People no longer have to worry about having impaired judgment or disabilities when they get behind the wheel. Instead, they can just program their car to take them where they want to go and then sit back and relax while it drives them there. This has the potential to save lives by relying on cars to drive safely rather than the people.
